Abstract:According to the theory of rotating magnetic field,three-phase voltage could be converted into multi-phase voltage with a round-shaped transformer that has potential applications in rectifier systems.The principles of the 24-pulse rectifier with the three/twelve-phase round-shaped transformer are then described.The harmonic currents on the line side are investigated based on the theory of magnetomotive force.To meet the demands for the electromagnetic design,effects of relative positions between rotor and stator slots,as well as the air gap length on operating performances are analyzed.The experiment results of the prototype exhibit its ability to improve the quality of the output voltages and the input currents in the multi-pulse rectifier systems.The main performances of the round-shaped transformer are initially evaluated in the multi-pulse rectifier system.
