Abstract The reliability of the A2MC VSC-HVDC system is mainly concerned in this paper. Analysis method is proposed based on the k-out-of-n:G model and fault Tree method, the reliability value of this topology using a variety of power devices is evaluated. Considering the reliability contribution, redundancy optimization is designed to achieve the required reliability index. Taking 10kV voltage level as an example, the calculation results demonstrate the effectiveness and correctness of this optimal design method, and provide a reference for future A2MC VSC-HVDC system reliability analysis and design.
