Abstract:The Halbach hollow cylindrical permanent magnet array with side-opening (“C” type) for rotating magnetic refrigerator has the two problems: Its circular ring is not enclosed in the magnet and the one-side magnetic pull on the circular ring is caused by the permanent magnet field. In order to solve these problems, a new configuration of the permanent magnet system for rotating magnetic refrigerator is put forward. The stator of this system includes Halbach hollow cylindrical permanent magnet and two magnet pole boots. The rotor includes shaft, iron core and magnetic refrigerant materials. In this paper, the magnetic field distribution generated by the new permanent magnet system, the eddy current distribution and eddy current loss in the magnetic refrigerant materials, as well as the electromagnetic torque on the rotor are analyzed and calculated using finite element method.
