Abstract:Based on the idea of establishing an equivalent relation between the bundle structure and a line-cylinder structure, this paper proposes a simple calculation method for direct current(DC) corona onset voltage of bundle conductor wires. The line-cylinder structure has a one dimension distribution of electric field and hence is easier to be handled. It is assumed that, the field distribution of the equivalent line-cylinder structure is identical to that of the bundle structure in the maximum field direction, and its radius is also equal to that of each sub-conductor. Onset voltages of several types of bundle structure conductors are determined by using linear fitting method to analyze the corona current-voltage curve obtained experimentally. It is shown that, the calculated results from the presented method are in good agreement with the experimental results.
