Abstract:A novel composite-current driven synchronous permanent magnet planar motor is proposed. The operation principle and structure of this planar motor are introduced. Based on scalar magnetic potential equation and boundary conditions, flux density distribution induced by the permanent magnet array is analyzed analytically. And then the expressions of the forces and back-EMF are derived respectively. In our laboratory, a prototype machine is designed and manufactured. And some experimental study is carried out, which validate the analytical and simulated results.
