Abstract:For single phase three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) voltage source rectifiers, the operating principle is analyzed firstly. According to characteristic of the circuit topology, three-phase space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique is applied to the single-phase converter system. To reduce the switching losses and be in equilibrium with the calorific value of each switch apparatus, a single-phase SVPWM optimized technique is proposed. The theoretical research shows that the SVPWM technique can reduce the switching losses and balance the neutral-point voltage to compare with single-phase SPWM technique; the calorific value of two middle switch apparatus of each leg can be reduced by arranging the selective zero vector. The validity of the algorithms is proved by the test in a low power experiment prototype.
