Abstract:In this paper, a novel anti-reverse-rotation startup and smoothly switching method for a non-salient pole brushless DC motor (BLDCM) is presented. Using short pulse sensing method based on the saturation effect of the stator iron, the rotor can be located and accelerated. The drawbacks of the “3-stage startup method” are analyzed, and the motor is switched smoothly according to the relationship between the terminal voltage waveform and commutation phases, when all the power devices are turned off. The back EMF zero-crossing point detection is conducted at the end of PWM on-state and the true zero-crossing point is extracted from the proposed algorithm. The experimental results verified the feasibility and validity of the suggested method.
