Current Decoupling and Force Disturbance Suppression of Dual Three-Phase Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motors with Section Power Supply

Abstract  Section power supply strategy is usually adopted to reduce the voltage and capacity of the inverters in the drive system of the permanent magnet linear synchronous machines (PMLSM) with long primary. However, the sectionally powered armature windings will generate the imbalanced inductance matrix. During the mover entering and leaving progress, the coupling and disturbance of the currents in the linear machine are caused, resulting in fluctuation of current and consequently thrust force ripple. To regulate the current precisely and diminish the thrust force ripple, a feedback decoupling controller is designed, and the effectiveness of the designed feedback decoupling controller is evaluated by using a dynamic relative gain array (DRGA). Furthermore, the disturbance caused by the dynamic process in back-EMF and the mismatches of machine parameters are estimated and compensated by an extended state observer based on the second-order sliding mode. The experimental results show that the proposed current control strategy can effectively reduce the fluctuation in current and diminish the force ripple.
