Abstract  In this paper, aimed at the problem of the large torque ripple and unstable switching frequency in the direct torque control of permanent magnet synchronous motor, a direct torque control scheme is proposed for double sliding mode variable structure. Firstly, two sliding mode controllers are designed for flux linkage and torque, the output of which is the voltage space vector, and the existence and reachability of the controller are proved by using Lyapunov theory. Secondly, sliding mode observer for the sensorless speed control is designed to work without sensor. At last, the simulation results show the feasibility of the control system. The torque ripple is reduced, and the system has strong robustness against parameter variations and external disturbances.
