Discontinuous Space Vector PWM for Three-Level Inverter with Comprehensive Performance Optimization |

Abstract Taking the neutral-point-clamped (NPC) three-level inverter as the research object, a space vector modulation strategy with optimal comprehensive performance is proposed by considering switching loss and output current harmonic. The relationship between the comprehensive performance index FSWR and modulation index m, reference vector angle θ and power factor angle φ is derived out by quantifying the switching loss and current harmonic calculation. In addition to the switching sequences of the conventional positive and negative clamping states, the switching sequence of zero clamping state is applied as an alternative sequence, the further distribution of each region is based on the minimum FSWR principle to determine optimal sub region of the“+”, “-” and “0” three clamping states, and then the comprehensive performance optimization of inverter is realized. Thus, the proposed method of switching sequence selection is helpful for improving the switching loss and output current harmonic performance of the inverter.
