Abstract There is a large number of rotating magnetic flux in the yoke of motor stator core and T-joint parts of transformer core, and the iron loss caused by rotating magnetization is greater than one from alternating magnetization. It is the foundation for studying the rotational loss that measuring the rotational magnetization characteristic on the local region of the iron core. Therefore, in this paper, the detection system of local magnetic property about magnetic flux density B signal and magnetic field intensity H signal on the surface of iron core was built up, a B-H vector sensor was designed and manufactured, which was composed of a pair of B probes and a Hall element, and its measurement accuracy was experimentally calibrated. The computer program about sensing B and H signals was compiled by means of LabVIEW virtual instrument. Taking a single-phase transformer core model as an example, B and H signals along two orthogonal directions at the corner of iron core were measured, and the rotation magnetization characteristic of the core were analyzed, which provides an effective method for reducing the core loss and optimizing the design of core structure.
