Abstract  The transmission power characteristics of dual-active-bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter is studied in this paper. There are three independent degrees of freedom when DAB is controlled by phase shift modulation. The DAB working status under any combinations of three phase-shifted degrees of freedom is divided into 12 models. The transmission power values of these 12 models are calculated separately. The range of transmission power for each model is derived, and the transmission power characteristics of DAB under triple-phase-shift (TPS) control are analyzed. The TPS control can be simplified as single-phase-shift (SPS) control, extended-phase-shift (EPS) control and dual-phase-shift (DPS) control when some of the degrees of freedom are assigned as special values. The ranges of transmission power for four phase-shift control methods are studied respectively, while the flexibility of power transmission is discussed comparatively. The theoretical analysis is verified by the experiments in the end.
