Abstract  In order to reduce the effect of estimated position angle caused by mutual inductance on sensorless control of switched reluctance motor (SRM), a SRM rotor position estimation method was presented here. This method can eliminated the effect of position estimation without measuring the mutual inductance. When working at the single-phase excitation, the inductance model method was used to estimate the position angle. When working at the two-phase excitation situation, mutual inductance is non-zero, so flux linkage-difference method was used to eliminate mutual inductance influence. Finally, experiments verified the proposed sensorless scheme. Compared with the traditional rotor position estimation scheme that ignores the effect of mutual inductance, the proposed method can eliminate the effect and has higher estimation accuracy. The method can realize stable and reliable running of SRM sensorless control in large speed range.
