Abstract Distributed renewable energies in the distribution network are influenced by natural conditions.And the corresponding probabilistic output power affects the whole system operation.According to the features of the distributed renewable energy generations and load characteristics,this paper presents a method for mitigation of power fluctuations based on voltage regulation.It can change the load by adjusting the system voltage and utilize the load change to track the output power of the generation.In this way,it reduces the effect of the fluctuation on the power grid.The simulation results of a simplified distribution system and the IEEE 13 nodes test feeder show that,by voltage regulation,residential loads can mitigate output power fluctuations of photovoltaic cells and wind turbines effectively.The results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
