Abstract In order to improve the efficiency and waveform and realize high-frequency, this paper proposes a hybrid cascaded dual buck flying-capacitor five-level inverter. The high voltage unit, is composed of bridge cell with high-voltage slow-switching components to realize the fundamental wave. And the low voltage unit is composed of flying capacitor inverter with low-voltage fast-switching components based on dual Buck inverter to improve the waveform and efficiency. The topology has both the merits of dual buck and flying capacitor. Dual Buck inverter has no shoot-through problems, no body-diode reverse recovery problems and half-cycle work mode, which cam implement the high frequency and efficiency simultaneously. The voltage balance of the flying capacitors can be achieved by choosing the redundant state through proper logical algorithms. The validity of the inverter is conformed through experimental. The topology can be expanded to a higher level.
