Abstract  The winding function theory is applied in this paper to qualitatively analyze the characteristics of the self-inductance and the mutual inductance for permanent magnetic synchronous machines (PMSM) with fractional slot concentrated winding (FSCW) corresponding to the integer slot machines, and the general rule is then derived. The specific values of the inductance between PMSM with FSCW and integer slot winding under different slots per pole per phase are obtained. In addition, the finite element method is applied to analyze the synchronous d-axis and q-axis reactance of PMSM.The characteristics of saliency ratio of PMSM with built-in rotor pole structure and pole-shoe rotor pole structure are summarized. The correctness of the calculation results are verified by experiments.
