Abstract Work principle of single-phase Buck-cascaded Boost-Buck high power factor correction rectifier is analyzed, and drawbacks of the traditional control scheme are summarized. Based on the analysis, a novel piecewise optimized control scheme is proposed, and the corresponding flowchart is given. According to the new control scheme, the current control technology of average mode control and charge control is used in boost stage and Buck stage separately, which ensures the good input current in the whole fundamental period. Finally, the validity of theory analysis and effectiveness of the control scheme is verified through experimental results, and the future research work need to be done is pointed out also.
