Abstract According to the problems of the high switching loss and the low efficiency in dual boost power factor correction(DBPFC) converter with return diodes of low input voltage and high input current, a zero-voltage transition(ZVT) DBPFC converter is proposed. An active snubber and the reasonable control method are used to reduce the switching loss of the two main switches and the Boost diodes in the main circuit. Furthermore, soft commutation of the main switches and the boost diodes are achieved without additional voltage stress by it. Operating modes of the ZVT DBPFC converter are discussed in detail. On the basis of it, the conditions and the types of soft switching implementation are theoretical analyzed and the key simulation waveforms are given. The prototypes of the experimental circuit based on the ZVT DBPFC converter is built to verify the correctness of theoretical analysis, and showed that the switching elements realized the different types of soft switching. The efficiency curves show that the ZVT DBPFC converter can improve efficiency by 1.2%~2.2%.
