Abstract DC power distribution architecture is good for energy saving and renewable energy utilization, and has been found promised applications in data centers, future homes, advanced buildings, and so on. The characteristics, origin, ongoing research and typical research projects of DC microgrid are introduced in this paper. The definition and key technologies of DC-building are also analyzed. Furthermore, it is pointed out that more attention should be paid on the research of DC micro-grid and more institutes/companies at home are expected to support the development of DC-building which is green and coming in.
