Influences of Drive Strategies on the Loss of Permanent Magnet Brushless Direct Current Motor |

Abstract Different drive strategies on permanent magnet brushless DC motor, driving the motor with essentially rectangular phase current(BLDC)or with essentially sinusoidal phase current (BLAC) is analyzed, and then the influences of drive strategies on the loss of motor is also studied in this paper. It proposes that: in BLAC mode the loss is the minimum when the current leading angel is zero, and in BLDC mode when the motor is with the optimal commutation advance angle control. Finally, this paper studies the losses both with optimal commutation advance angle control and with #em/em#d=0 FOC control in test.
