Abstract A large number of composite insulators have experienced abnormal heating and decay fracture phenomena in recent years, and the relationship between the two is very complex. The power system operation and maintenance department will regularly carry out infrared inspections, but the existing temperature measurement methods cannot judge the heating of the interface between the insulator mandrel and the sheath. Therefore, this paper establishes a temperature mapping model inside and outside the sheath for composite insulators that may generate interfacial heating, and uses the surface temperature to invert the real temperature rise of the interface to achieve early identification and fault blocking of potential decay defects.
Firstly, the heat transfer process model of the composite insulator sheath is established, and the simplified heat transfer model is related to the inner diameter and outer diameter of the composite insulator, the thermal conductivity of the material, and the convection heat dissipation coefficient of the outside of the sheath. Secondly, the composite insulator experimental platform with internal heating is built, and the temperature of the heating sheet is adjusted by controlling the output power of the DC power supply, and the temperature distribution and temperature value of the outer side of the silicone rubber sheath are detected by using an infrared thermal imager at a certain distance. Finally, the influencing factors such as the specification of the silicone rubber sheath, the ambient wind speed, the ambient temperature, and the detection distance of the infrared thermal imager were adjusted, and the effects of these factors on the internal and external temperature display values of the silicone rubber were studied.
In this paper, it is found that the relative error between the true value and the estimated value of the internal temperature estimated by the external temperature of the sheath is not more than 5%, and the accuracy of the model is high. It should be noted that if the thickness of the sheath of the two samples is the same, but their inner radius and outer radius are not the same, then the temperature correspondence between the two samples is also different; The linear slope of the internal and external mapping relationship is significantly affected by the ambient wind speed, and the linear slope increases significantly in the early stage of wind speed, but gradually slows down in the later stage, which indicates that when the ambient wind speed reaches a certain level, the effect of increasing the wind speed is limited for further reducing the temperature of the outer side of the composite insulator sheath. The effect of ambient temperature can be understood as the synchronous change of the temperature of all objects in space, which also explains the influence of ambient temperature on intercept in the test results. In addition, to improve the accuracy of measurement results, it is best to choose a device with a smaller instantaneous field of view and better measurement performance.
In general, there are abnormally heated composite insulators at the mandrel-sheath interface, and the heat conduction order is as follows: heat source-inside the sheath-inside the sheath-outside the sheath-air, and the model in this paper can basically correctly simulate the heat transfer process. However, there are many factors that actually affect the model, and many factors are relatively complex from the theoretical modeling and experimental verification links, which is also the direction of the next research of the authors of this paper, and more factors are considered into the model of this paper, so as to improve the accuracy of the model in this paper.
