Design of U+U Type Magnetic Integrated Transformer in Interlaced Bidirectional CLLC Resonant Converter

Abstract  

The interleave parallel technology improves the transmission capacity of the converter, but increases the number of system components, especially the transformer, inductance and other magnetic components. Magnetic integration technology can reduce the number of magnetic components and loss. The traditional structure of magnetic integration transformer mostly adopts EE type structure, where the windings and air gaps are distributed on the side legs, resulting in uneven distribution of magnetic pressure and magnetic flux. Moreover, the air gaps are surrounded with windings completely, which causes eddy current loss of the diffused magnetic flux hinging with the windings. This paper proposes a U+U type magnetic integrated transformer structure, and gives the related integrated design method and parameters. This paper simulates the magnetic field of the proposed U+U structure and the traditional structure by ANSYS software. Through a 400~48V/1kW interlaced bidirectional CLLC resonant converter prototype, the proposed structure is compared with the traditional EE type structure, which verifies the superiority of the proposed U+U type structure.
