Power Balance Method of Cascaded H-Bridge Inverter Based on Pulse Circulation in Output Period

Abstract  For cascaded H-bridge inverter, in order to realize power balance control between cascaded cells and harmonic characteristics control of inverter output line voltage, this paper redistributed the output of cascaded cells based on carrier control degree of freedom. Two power balance methods based on quarter and half output period pulse circulation were proposed. The proposed methods could control cascaded cells to achieve power balance within 3/2 output periods at any modulation ratio and power factor angle. In order to simplify implementation process, the proposed methods were optimized twice, so that the number of carriers and the number of carrier adjustment time were greatly reduced. At the same time, the similarities and differences between the original methods and the optimized methods were compared and analyzed. The results show that second optimization method based on half output period pulse circulation obtains the best optimization effect. Finally, the experimental results verified the correctness of theoretical analysis and feasibility of power balance control methods.
