Abstract  Due to the existence of longitudinal end effect and magnetomotive force harmonics, the inductance of two-phase tubular permanent magnet synchronous linear motor (TPMSLM) isn’t ideal. So the traditional sensorless algorithm based on the high-frequency voltage injection doesn’t work. To solve the problem, the inductance of two-phase TPMSLM was studied by the finite element method in the condition that the mover and stator windings were fully coupled. Then the high-frequency voltage model of two-phase TPMSLM in the stationary reference frame was derived from the actual inductance. The estimated position was extracted by the extended Kalman filter (EKF) . As a result, the sensorless control using the proposed method provides an enhanced dynamics. At last, the proposed algorithm was verified by experiment.
