Active Resonance Suppression Strategy for Grid-Train Coupling Resonance Based on SHE-PWM

Abstract  Pulse width modulation (PWM) technology is widely used in High-Speed Railway. The harmonic distribution caused by PWM is extensive, it increases the possibility of the grid-train coupling resonance in the traction power supply system (TPSS) and it may affect the normal operation of the TPSS. In this paper, the mechanism of grid-train coupling resonance was studied and a feasible strategy of resonance suppression was proposed. This paper analysed the mechanism of resonance firstly and adopted specific harmonic elimination-pulse width modulation (SHE-PWM) technology to eliminate the harmonic in the resonant frequency, it could suppress the grid-train coupling resonance. Since the solution process of SHE-PWM with multiple switching angles contains complex transcendental equations, and it was difficult to solve by using ordinary iterative algorithm. In this paper, it used the active-set secondary optimization method to solve the equation. The algorithm has the benefit of low dependence on initial values and high solution accuracy. Finally, the feasibility of the resonant suppression algorithm was verified by RT-lab hardware-in-loop (HIL) experiment.
