Abstract  To improve the dynamic and static performance of speed regulation system for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM), this paper proposed a sliding mode controller based on a new variable speed reaching law, which based on hyperbolic sine function, the steady-state torque ripple of the system is effectively inhibited by achieving variable bandwidth approach which rely on system state quantity. In order to solve the contradiction between the fast speed response and the high starting current, a hybrid speed controller (HSC) based on PI and sliding mode control (SMC) was proposed. This controller based on the new reaching law. The control mode is selected by the input value of the controller. And the response speed of this system is improved and the torque ripple is suppressed in steady state. Simulation and experiment results validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed reaching law and the HSC.
