Abstract  On line chromatography used to detect the dissolved gas in oil is an important method for detection of the latent faults of the transformer, which is of great significance to status assessment of the transformer.Sensor technique used to detect gasis the key technology of on-line chromatography. At present, many on-line chromatographic monitoring sensors have been developed at home and abroad, but there are many shortcomings such as poor stability, low sensitivity and confined linear range. To solve the above problems,a method for detecting dissolved gases in transformer oil using solid oxide fuel cell sensor is presented.Meanwhile, the fabrication of the sensors, the test method and process are introduced, and the gas sensing mechanism is discussed.Based on that, the quantitative mathematical model of the sensor is constructed based on Nernst equation. The experimental results show that accurate and high precision measurement of the H2,C2H4,CH4,C2H6 and C2H2 can be achieved by using the solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)detector technology and the proposed model.Especially, the sensitivity of the sensors to C2H2 is able to reach 1×10-7,and can be used to solve the problems of poor stability, accuracy and low sensitivity on conventional sensors, which demonstrates that the proposed method has a very important promotion value.
