Abstract  A three-port converter with bootstrap circuit is proposed in this paper. The magnitude of the input voltages can be higher or lower than the one with a regulated output. The proposed converter can realize single-stage bi-directional power conversion between the input sources, which improves the utilization rate of renewable energy and the system efficiency. Thanks to the bootstrap capacitor, the converter keeps the output voltage constant when one of the input sources is out of service, overcoming randomness and intermittency in optical-storage system. Operation principle and the power management strategy are presented in detail. Charge-discharge features and parameter optimization of the bootstrap mode are analyzed. Experimental results verify the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the control strategy.
