A New Power Decoupling Circuit for Photovoltaic Inverter

Abstract  This paper presents a new power decoupling circuit for PV inverter. In this circuit, two decoupling capacitors are connected in series to provide the dc bus voltage. And a buck/boost inverter is connected between the capacitors in order to achieve two directional energy transfer between them. The operation principles of the power decoupling circuit are analyzed in details. The parameter design of the decoupling capacitances, the control strategy, and the average voltage control method of the power decoupling capacitors are given. Simulation analysis of the proposed power decoupling circuit was performed with Saber software. Simulation results show that the proposed power decoupling circuit and its control strategy can realize the power decoupling while reducing the decoupling capacitors’ capacitance and voltage rating.
