Abstract

One of important methods to save energy in high speed train is replacing the induction traction motors with PM synchronous motors (PMSMs). Compared with the induction motors (IMs), the PMSMs are more sensitive to the temperature rise and harmonics of magnetic field, which are deeply influenced by the switching frequency limited by the converter loss in practice. In this paper, a co-simulation models combining the finite element (FE) motor model and control system are established, which are much accurate due to considering nonlinearity of magnetic circuit. Based on these models, the system is simulated under the single-pulse control and SVPWM with different switching frequencies control. The performances including speed, back-EMF, torque and power loss are compared and analyzed.
