Transformerless Dynamic Voltage Restorer Based on Compound Control Strategy |

Abstract A single-phase sinusoidal pulse width modulation(SPWM) based compound control strategy composed of double closed-loop proportional integral(PI) and modified proportional resonant(MPR) is proposed to raise the operation performance of multilevel inverter for transformerless dynamic voltage restorer(DVR) and make the DVR enable to further improve voltage harmonic characteristics of the system when making compensation of load voltage. Applying SPWM into the topology of multilevel inverter which could obtain a higher equivalent switching frequency and lower switching loss. The proportional integral(PI) controller based on synchronous rotating frame could ensure the compensation ability of voltage sag by DVR, and modified proportional resonant(MPR) controller with harmonic voltage-loop for the compensation to specified order of harmonic is added to implement effects that zero-steady error compensation to harmonic voltage in specified order. The feasibility and effectiveness of proposed compound control strategy are verified by theoretical analysis and experimental results.
