Direct Voltage Control Using Space Vector Modulation for Stand-Alone Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Generator

Abstract  In this paper, a novel control strategy of variable speed constant frequency for stand-alone brushless doubly fed induction generator was described. Based on the mathematical model, the direct voltage control using space-vector modulation was presented and discussed particularly. The model of the generator power system also used to compute the estimated value of converter’s output voltage, and current loop was simplified, the space vector modulation is adopted for the converter. It inherits quick dynamic performance and robust but also keep switch frequency constant and reduce the harmonic and ripple. In addition, a new initial rotor position detection technique based on phase-locked loop is presented to obtain correct alignment. The direct control and vector control strategy between the grid-connected and stand-alone system were also estimated and compared. Experimental results prove the feasibility and validity of the proposed control scheme.
