Discrimination of Interturn Short-Circuit and Local Demagnetization in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Based on Current Fluctuation Characteristics |

Abstract For the difficulties in the classification and diagnosis of interturn short circuit fault and local demagnetization fault of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), this paper proposes a two faults discrimination method based on the in-phase and out of phase current amplitude fluctuation characteristics of PMSM. Based on the mechanism analysis of the influence of interturn short circuit fault and local demagnetization fault on phase current amplitude, the amplitude fluctuation value in the same phase current and the amplitude fluctuation value between different phases currents are extracted in one rotation cycle. The above two amplitude fluctuation values can reflect two faults difference,and the faults discrimination indicators are established. The simulation and experimental results are consistent with the mechanism analysis, which verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The method in this paper can be directly embedded in PMSM control software without additional sensing equipment, and has good practical value.
