Abstract With the popularization of multi-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in many fields, the research on the UAV wireless charging has attracted more and more attention. In this paper, the research and development status of the UAV wireless charging technology are reviewed. Firstly, the working principle and system structure of the UAV wireless charging system based on three different mechanisms are summarized. Secondly, two hot issues of near-field coupling UAV wireless charging, namely magnetic field coupling and electric field coupling, are classified and elaborated, which are mainly divided into coupler design and misalignment coping solution. Finally, the future prospect of the UAV wireless charging technology is presented, and the key problems to be solved are discussed.
