Abstract:To analyze the influence of the interaction between vector control loop and the weak AC grid on system stability, the linearized transfer function models under different operating modes of VSC were built. By analyzing the distributions of zeros and poles in open-loop transfer function and closed loop transfer function, the instability analytical criterion was proposed. Meanwhile, the relationship of the power and current in the simplified system of VSC was studied, which revealed the instability mechanism of VSC-HVDC connected to the weak AC system and obtained the physical meaning of the instability criterion. Finally, VSC-HVDC connected to the weak AC system model was built in PSCAD/EMTDC and the theoretical research was verified by simulation.
