Fast Diagnosis and Location Method for Open-Circuit Fault in Inverter Based on Current Vector Character Analysis

Abstract:This paper proposes a method of fast fault diagnosis and location for single switch open of three-phase voltage source inverter according to current vector character analysis. The proposed method only uses the output current of three-phase voltage source inverter. Fault diagnosis is carried out regarding the variations of the instantaneous frequency and instantaneous angle of current vector before and after the fault. Fast fault detection is based on the instantaneous frequency change of current vector, while the fault phase is located by combining with instantaneous angle information of current vector, and the fault switch is located by combining with a diagnostic variable based on the average value of the current. At last, the proposed fault diagnosis and location method is verified by simulation. The hardware experimental platform verifies the proposed method can effectively and quickly locate the fault phase and fault switch.
