A Balancing Control Method of DC Side Voltage for Cascaded H-Bridge Static Var Generator

Abstract:The cascaded H-bridge static var generator (SVG) has been widely regarded as one of the best schemes for large capacity reactive power compensation devices.And the necessary condition to ensure its reliable operation is the stability and balance of the DC side voltage.The equivalent mathematical model of the cascaded H-bridge SVG is established and analyzed,and then the fluctuations process of the DC side voltage is derived.On this basis,the phase to phase active power exchange process of the cascaded H-bridge SVG is analyzed.A three-level balancing control method,based on the zero sequence voltage control,of the DC side voltage is putted forward,which includes the global DC side voltage balancing control,the phase to phase DC side voltage balancing control,and the balancing control of DC side voltage within a phase.Thus the problem of the DC side voltage balancing control is well solved.In the end,the main circuit structure containing 2 H-bridge units in a single phase is selected to perform the simulation and experiment in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
