Abstract:This paper studies an enhanced adaptive observer to estimates speed and position of the rotor to satisfy the needs of full-speed implement for SPMSM drives. This method is based on a speed-adaptive observer that is enhanced with a high-frequency signal injection technique fitted for SMPSM drive, and high-frequency signal injection technique operates at low speed region to correct the output signal of speed-adaptive observer, while operates at the higher speed region, the speed-adaptive observer works solely. This makes the enhanced adaptive observer not only has good dynamic performance but also estimation precision. This enhanced adaptive observer combined the fast dynamic response of adaptive model with steady-state accuracy of HF signal injection method can start up under close loop condition. When it works at full speeds it obtains a smooth transition between the two regions. The experimental results verify the effectiveness and applicability of the enhanced adaptive observer.
