Abstract:This paper presents a research on the static longitudinal end effect in the linear motor. The analysis shows that, for the common monolayer distributed winding motor, there would be an additional off-set pulsating component in the air-gap flux density in the powered section, and a certain amplitude of pulsating flux density would appear in the air-gap of the un-powered section, which would cause the magnetic saturation in the core of the motor, leading to the increase of the iron loss and the mass of the motor. In order to solve the problem, the paper proposes a new winding type, based on the optimization of the coil turns in the two poles which lies in the two sides of the powered section. Finally, the validity of the method proposed is proved based on the analytic derivation and FEM simulation result.
