Abstract:The zigzag leakage flux of surface-mounted permanent magnetic synchronous machine(PMSM) with similar poleand slot number is bigger than other kinds of electric machines. The bigger zigzag leakage flux decreases the output torque of the electric machines and causes the torque to ripple. Therefore it is important to analyze the influence of zigzag leakage flux on the torque. According to the feature that the periodicity of zigzag leakage flux is the multiple of the phase and the zigzag leakage flux is symmetry about the origin, and the Fourier expansions of zigzag leakage flux under one phase are analyzed. Using Faraday law of electromagnetic induction, the zigzag leakage flux is related to the back electromotive force of three phase windings. Then on this basis the analytical expression of the relationship between the zigzag leakage flux and torque is deduced. The results of the finite element simulation and quantitative analysis indicate that the zigzag leakage flux decreases the average torque of the electric machines and produces six-order torque ripple. Therefore, the analytical method is proved to be correct.
