Abstract:This paper presents a method of applying riadial equivalent independent(REI) equivalent technology to solve reactive-power optimization problem in multi-area power system. The external systems of each area are simplified by REI equivalent, and every area implements reactive-power optimization calculation by using nonlinear primal-dual interior-point algorithm independently. The specific methods of solving the key problems which include merger scheme of REI buses, phase angles transfer, equivalent network initial parameters calculation, inner iteration calculation, outer coordination calculation and REI equivalent network correction are given. Finally testing results on IEEE 39-bus system and a 538-bus practical system are used to validate the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in comparison with the centralized optimization method, and the influences of the three REI buses merger schemes to decomposition and coordination algorithm are analyzed.
