Abstract:This paper presents essential analysis on the reason of commutation torque ripple in brushless DC motor(BLDCM). A unitive formula being suitable for different PWM schemes is derived to calculate the commutation torque ripple from the mathematic model of BLDCM. In order to suppress torque ripple in whole speed range, a new PWM strategy which can equalize the rising and falling slopes of phase current is proposed based on DC link current control. The new method has the advantage of simplicity, compared with the traditional control method. The outgoing phase is still holding modulation during commutation region without recalculating the PWM duty cycle, and digital control with fast dynamic response can be easily realized. Finally, the experienmental results verify the significant effectiveness of the new method, and it is preferable for the BLDCM drive system with aimed of high accuracy-controlling.
