Economic Operation Analysis of the Electric Vehicle Charging Station |

Abstract As an important component of EVs’ support facilities, charging stations have to meet the normal driving demand for EVs. However, from the actual operating data, it was found that the capacity of the distribution transformer was too large, leading to too much power loss. This was not conducive to the extensive construction of charging stations. Based on operation data of actual electric vehicle charging station, this paper calculates and analyzes transformer losses of the charging station. From the point of view of the charging station’s economic operation, two methods to choose the transformer’s configuration capacity are proposed. At the end of this paper, load characteristics is analyzed to have a reasonable use of overload operation of the transformer and to further reduce transformer configuration capacity, and then the economy of and the charging station is improved.
