Abstract This paper introduces the main concepts about the reliability of the grid-connected high power wind turbines, and then presents a method to evaluate the wind turbine reliabilities based on the historical statistics. Finally, this method is applied to five high power wind turbine concepts, whose reliabilities, along with the method itself are discussed.
