Abstract This paper studied the phenomena and mechanism of chaos generated in Boost converter firstly, and from the point of view of certain parameters, the reason of chaos generation and the influence caused by balanced point is analyzed. In order to control the chaos phenomena effectively, a non-singular terminal sliding mode (NTSM) control method based on the energy constant is proposed. Meanwhile, the superior properties of NTSM compared with the traditional linear sliding mode (LSM) control are presented. Finally, the simulations and experiment verify the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed strategy.
