Parallel Technologies of Power Module for Traction Power Supply With Energy Feedback |

Abstract To meet the demands of subway traction power supply system for large capacity, high power density and high reliability, a novel converter capacity expansion scheme based on parallel of power modules is presented. The parallel technologies of IGBTs and that of power modules are compared. The mechanism of how does the different action time of the paralleled power modules cause the circulating current and the factors which influence the amplitude of circulating current, are both analyzed. A new approach is proposed to suppress the circulating current, which adopts the differential mode inductance. The simulation and experimental results show the existence of circulating current, and the effectiveness of the differential mode inductance to suppress the circulating current.
