Investigation on the Characteristics in Frequency Domain of Three-Phase Multilevel Current Source Rectifier |

Abstract Based on the double Flourier transform, operating characteristics in frequency domain of three-phase multilevel current source rectifier (MCSR) is quantificationally developed in this paper. Especially, harmonic characteristics of AC line currents and DC link voltage of MCSR with the notable carrier phase-shifted SPWM (CPS-SPWM) is mainly investigated. It is shown that with the CPS-SPWM, the MCSR can obtain many good features, such as the multilevel PWM AC current waveforms of equivalent higher carrier frequency even under a lower carrier frequency, and that the dc link voltage of the MCSR has no low harmonic components and the lowest harmonic group occurs at N multiples carrier frequency. Based on the above analytical results, a simple and general method to design sharing-current inductors in MCSR is also presented. At last, simulated and experimental results are given to demonstrate the proposition.
