Object Oriented Optimal Control Method for Three-Level PWM Rectifier by Zero-Sequence Voltage Injection |

Abstract Three-level PWM rectifier is featured with unity power factor, bidirectional power flow and suitable for medium voltage and high power applications. In this paper, the vector control scheme is applied to the rectifier by establishing its mathematical model. Based on the relationship between space vector PWM and carrier-based PWM, a novel PWM algorithm with zero-sequence voltage injection is presented by considering the essence of redundant switching states. An optimized zero-sequence voltage is chosen according to different control objective. Complex calculations for vector selection and time duration are avoided by using the proposed algorithm, which is also universal for multi-level converters. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the algorithm. The rectifier works with unity power factor while balancing the capacitor voltage and reducing the switching losses.
