Abstract:A sliding mode variable structure current control (SMC) strategy is proposed for permanent magnet synchronous motor drives fed by matrix converters (MC-PMSM) to reduce the influence of grid voltage disturbances. A kind of disturbance is analyzed and its effects on output of matrix converter (MC) are derived. The decoupled model of PMSM is given, in which perturbation of input voltage and parameters of motor are considered. Based on the model, a SMC current controller is designed by using integral sliding mode surface and exponential approach law. Experimental results show that, the proposed strategy obtains reduced current and speed ripples under grid voltage disturbance without feed forward compensation which needs high precision voltage sensor. The structure of system is simple. Besides, it indicates global stability with easy tuning of controller parameters.
