Abstract:L-T(The magnetization direction of Terfenol-D is vertical with the polarization direction of PZT) epoxy bonded Terfenol-D/PZT/Terfenol-D multilayered composite magnetoelectric sensors are prepared. The magnetoelectric coefficient (ME coefficient) α of magnetoelectric sensors is calculated by means of equivalent circuit method. The magnetoelectric coefficient equation shows that ME coefficient α is decided by performance parameters and the volume ratio of Terfenol-D and PZT. The dependences of α on DC bias magnetic field, volume ratio of Terfenol-D and PZT, and frequency of AC driving magnetic field are investigated by experiment and calculation. The results show that DC bias magnetic field, volume ratio of Terfenol-D and PZT and AC magnetic field frequency all have a marked effect on α. Meanwhile the theoretic α is accordant with the experiment α . The difference of theoretic α and experiment α for all our composite magnetoelectric sensors is less than 6%.
